About Under the Fatherhood

About the Site

While it took me a couple of years to get to it (at the time of writing my son is almost two) I have finally hunkered down to do some serious reading and research on being a father. So much as the name of the site betrays, this site is about fatherhood.

I have always found it educating to write and or teach people the things I learn, and so when it came time to start learning the whole blog idea seemed a good fit. There are some rules:

  • I will write about things that I am researching.
  • I will write about things that I observe and things that happen.
  • I won’t be posting detailed information about my son or wife or family and friends. Mostly, I don’t feel comfortable sharing details or pictures or whatnot about my son until he says it is okay for me to do so.
  • I will do my best to lay out the facts as I find them and keep my opinion to one side (it may be there, just not mixed in with the facts).

About the name

Yes, the name is a pun on the phrase “under the hood”, like as in “what’s it got under the hood” referring to the engine of a car, in this case it is referring to what it takes to be a father, or things you can tuck under the hood for your fatherly engine, or… Well, maybe I should stop there.
